Using social media!
Some writers swear by it. They understand it and incorporate Facebook, Twitter, Linked In and GoodReads in their everyday networking efforts. Not all of these writers enjoy it – but they recognise the impact that social media can have.
Some writers hate it. They just don’t ‘get’ Twitter, Facebook, etc etc and resent it when others suggest that it’s a good idea. They can be heard muttering things like “Can’t I just write my books without worrying about all this stuff?” They sit there and stare at their Facebook page or Twitter account and wonder what to do with it.
I’ve heard plenty of differing suggestions on using social media, but probably the most valuable was “Don’t overthink it”. Engage with people on your Facebook page as you would with friends; follow people on Twitter who sound interesting and just tweet a few words about a current hot topic, share a quote or give a useful link.
These links will give you a few ideas on how to use Facebook, Twitter and other social media.
